Darren Townsend - Managing Director

Darren is a mining engineer with extensive mining and corporate experience. Previously Darren has worked at De Grey Mining Ltd where he held the position of Managing Director from May 2006 to December 2007. Prior to that he was General Manager of Operations at Sons of Gwalia's (now Tailson) Wodgina Tantalum operations and over a period of 5 years, led and managed the development of the mine to become the world's largest hard rock Tantalum operations.

Over the last 6 years Darren has been President & CEO of TSXV listed Pacific Wildcat Resources Corp where he was responsible for building a tantalum mine in Mozambique and completing the acquisition and resource drill out of a large rare earth and niobium project in Kenya.

Dave Hammond

Dave Hammond - Technical Director

MSc in Mineral Exploration, DIC, BSc (Hons) Geology, MAusIMM

With an MSc in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines, London, Dave Hammond is a geologist with over 23 years of technical and management experience in Africa and Australia, in a range of commodities and geological deposit styles. Mr. Hammond was previously Exploration Manager with De Grey Mining Limited, working on projects in the Pilbara and new project acquisitions globally.

His previous experience also includes Exploration Manager for Sons of Gwalia in the NE Goldfields of Western Australia and Project Geologist with Billiton in South Africa and Zambia.

Rocky Smith

Rocky Smith - Chief Operating Officer- Development

B.Sc (Chemistry)

Rocky Smith has over 35 year’s operations and senior management experience in the mineral processing/chemical engineering sector. Rocky was previously the Managing Director of Molycorp’s Mountain Pass Rare Earth complex from July 2009 to August 2015. As such he brings a great depth of practical, specialist and technical rare earth operations experience to Peak.

Responsible for operations at Molycorp’s rare earth mining and processing site in California, USA, Rocky managed 500 employees and an annual operational budget of in excess of US$150 million. He recruited, developed and led the team responsible for the implementation of the redesigned and expanded Mountain Pass operation. Rocky’s work included the establishment of sophisticated management systems, the reduction of bottlenecks and the delivery of successful expansions resulting in a 230% increase in production capacity over three years. 

Graeme Scott

Graeme Scott - Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Scott is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) with more than 20 years' experience in professional and corporate roles in both Australia and the UK. He has spent the last 10 years working in the resources sector in CFO and Company Secretarial roles for both ASX and TSX listed companies

Lucas Stanfield

Lucas Stanfield - Chief Development Officer

Mr Stanfield is a Mining Engineer with over 15 years' experience in mining and project management in Australia, Africa, and the United Kingdom. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (mining) from the University of New South Wales in 1998 before commencing studies for a diploma in Law at the Legal Practioners Admissions Board at Sydney University.

Mr Stanfield's early Australian experience included new project developments and expansions in the mining industry which lead to the move to the United Kingdom where his skills in project management were refined while working on large scale infrastructure and process manufacturing projects for the London Underground, AMEC, and Bovis Lend Lease.

Returning to Australia in 2010 Mr Stanfield took a principal project management role in the Mining and Resources division at Emerson Stewart Consulting. In this role he delivered a number of Scoping and Feasibility studies as well as developed expansion strategies, long-term business plans and operating productivity studies focussed on mining industry.

Gavin Beer

Gavin Beer - General Manager Metallurgy

BSc. (Ext. Metallurgy), MAusIMM(CP)

Gavin Beer has more than 25 years of experience in technical and operational roles in the mining industry. He is a Chartered Professional and a Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He is qualified as a Competent Person for both JORC and NI 43-101 reporting with respect to his metallurgical expertise.

Early in his career, Gavin held significant plant management roles in gold and base metal operations in Bulgaria, China, Fiji, Indonesia and Australia. For the past eight years, he has worked almost exclusively on rare earth projects. From 2007 until 2011 Gavin held the role of Manager of Metallurgy for Arafura Resources where he was responsible for flow sheet development, managing pilot and demonstration plant programs from beneficiation to separated rare earth oxide products.

Gavin started his own consultancy business in 2011 providing specialist metallurgical expertise to the to the rare earth industry. He was responsible for the flow sheet development of eight Rare Earth projects worldwide including Peak’s Ngualla Project. Gavin joined Peak full time in February of 2015.

Michael Prassas

Michael Prassas- General Manager- Sales, Marketing & Business Development

Michael has over 20 years' experience in sales and marketing and his focus has been negotiating long-term supply contracts with global accounts and developing business relationships and offtake agreements with some of the world's largest automotive companies.

In addition to sales and marketing, Michael has extensive experience in business development and has been involved in start-up companies providing technology to the automobile industry.

Michael has a degree as a Business Economist from the North Stuttgart School of Business Administration where he studied economics, majoring in foreign trade, human resources and financing. Michael was previously Global Account Manager for Automotive Catalysis and Sales Manager - Rare Earth Systems for leading global chemical company Solvay.
